Workshop Integrated Modelling of River - Sea systems. In the DANUBIUS workshop you can share knowledge and experience about the modelling of large river-sea systems.

DANUBIUS-RI will be a pan-European distributed research infrastructure dedicated to interdisciplinary studies of large river–sea systems. DANUBIUS-RI will enable and support research addressing the conflicts between society’s demands, environmental change and environmental protection in river–sea systems worldwide. DANUBIUS-RI is being developed by partners in eleven European countries, with expressions of interest and support from the scientific community in many others in Europe and worldwide. It aims to become operational by 2022.

Workshop programme

This workshop is organised by the DANUBIUS Modelling Node. In the workshop you can share knowledge and experience about the modelling of river-sea systems. The workshop starts with an overview of DANUBIUS-RI, the Modelling Node and the scientific agenda, followed by presentations on modelling of the Elbe, Danube, Rhine-Meuse and Po delta. In the afternoon, the benchmarking of simulation models by the modelling node will be presented and the partners of the consortium will demonstrate the modelling software they develop. The workshop concludes with a discussion on the future modelling challenges for river-sea systems.

Open for modellers and researchers

This workshop is open for modellers and researchers that focus on the modelling of river, delta and/or sea systems.

The workshop is organised by Georg Umgiesser (ISMAR, Italy) and Joost Icke (Deltares, The Netherlands).
