During the break-out sessions we zoom in on specific applications of the Delft3D software. MAMPEC is an example of an application of a simplified 2D steady state version of DELWAQ used for the estimation of environmental concentrations of biocides from antifouling paints and contaminants from ballastwater treatment installations in ports, rivers, estuaries and open waters. MAMPEC is user-friendly and widely accepted as a regulatory tool, developed and maintained since 1999 by Deltares and partners and used for the risk assessment and admission of new antifouling products and ballastwater treatment installations. New fields of application include fish-farming and EGCS (exhaust gas cleaning systems).

In this hands-on workshop we will provide a short introduction to the MAMPEC model, explore the model step-by-step with guided tour along the main features of the model. We build up a typical model session and and define environmental, compound and emission scenarios and run the model. Several instructors will be present for help and answering questions.

The software and technical documentation is freely available and can be obtained from the support site:

Who can participate?

The course is intended for new and more experienced scientists, students, regulatory officers, and representatives from industry and consultancy companies. Participants of the workshop are requested preferably to bring their own laptops and to install the model prior to the workshop.
