wflow is Deltares’ own distributed hydrology modelling software which maximizes the use of earth observation data and calculates all hydrological fluxes at any given location and time step, using physical parameters and meteorological input data.

The 2022 user day is for hydrological modellers who want to learn about wflow as well as for existing users. This online session will cover the latest developments and features and the practical applications realized in the last year. In these applications, wflow is often linked to other software from Deltares, such as the Delft-FEWS Platform, the D-Flow FM module of the Delft3D FM Suite and/or the iMOD Suite.

The wflow framework is an open-source framework, newly developed in the Julia language. This structure allows users to build their own models from (open) global data and combine different modules. Major processes that can be included are snow and glacier melt, interception, soil moisture, runoff generating processes, sediment transport and river flow. This flexible modelling framework is being used around the world to simulate river flows for flood forecasting, flood risk analysis, water allocation modelling and water quality analysis. Its soil moisture module is providing valuable input for drought analysis and slope stability modelling.
